• Notes

  This lady, Letitia Bruce, is the earliest owner so far found of her Christian name, which reappeared in the family across 3 more generations. Her surname was also adopted as a family Christian name, and it too was used for several generations. Letitia and her husband William Stirret christened their second daughter Letitia. This 2nd Letitia and her husband John Foster christened their daughter Letitia Bruce. They also had a son William Bruce, who, with his wife Emily Hall, christened their eldest daughter Letticia (Tish) and their eldest son William Bruce. This was the last known use of the name Letitia in the family, but not of Bruce, because their daughter Elsie and her husband Bob christened their 2nd son Jack Bruce.
