• Notes

  Louisa emigrated to USA in 1923, age 27. She gave the immigration authorities the name of Arthur G Patch as her 'friend'. Arthur was a US citizen and a ship's engineer. Arthur was apparently married, but possibly a widower. Louisa may already have met Arthur if he had called in to Liverpool, Lancashire, UK on some previous voyage. However, in her family it is believed that she had formed no relationship prior to sailing. So perhaps she met him during her emigration voyage. No record of a marriage between Arthur and Louisa has been found. So perhaps they never married. Either way, Louisa bore Arthur a child, Louisa, probably in 1924. Louisa the mother died shortly afterwards, though how soon is not known. In 1927 Arthur brought his 3 year old daughter Rose Louisa to England. They arrived in Southampton on 26 Aug 1927. They then moved on to Liverpool, Lancashire, UK, where they stayed, probably, with Louisa's parents, in 28 Alfred Street - the address from which Louisa emigrated 4 years earlier. They set sail for Boston from Liverpool, Lancashire, UK on 20 Sep 1927, after a visit of 3 weeks. It is believed that young Louisa never visited Liverpool, Lancashire, UK again. It is of course possible that Arthur did, as a crew member. (Medical):Louisa died in the USA, shortly after giving birth.
