    • Catherine was known as Kitty, or sometimes Katie. She and her twin sister Minnie were born on 1 Feb 1890, in Manchester, Lancashire, UK.

      Kitty was somewhat backward, and behaved in a slightly odd way. This was the reason why her sister vowed never to marry but to devote herself to looking after Kitty.

      The girls lived with their parents during their early life, but moved to Seacombe in Wallasey, very close to the River Mersey. They lived in a large old terraced house.
