• Notes

  There is some difficulty with Mary Ann's maiden name. Charles Barcock's wife's first names are Mary Ann. The only Charles Barcock marriage recorde in Bedford in the appropriate dates was Mary Ann White - that marriage was in 1867. However there was a marriage of a Mary Ann Armstrong in 1869 to either William Burley or Joseph Smart. The clincher for choice of maiden name is the 1881 census, in which Charles' mother in law Sarah ARMSTRONG is living with his family. But this does not explain the contradiction with the CRI records.
